I viewed a very light red tail hawk this afternoon for 30-40 minutes in my
backyard--perched at several locations and in flight. It had a
whitish/gray head, white breast with some mottled dark spots--overall much
whiter, lighter appearance than typical red tail hawks. In flight, I saw
flashes of red on the tail-not sure if the entire tail was red or partial.
I had good looks for a look time with identification in hand and it
appeared to me to be a Krider's. (I've also seen captive Krider red-tails,
so it was not unfamiliar to me).
