My wife and I seated at our kitchen table observed at least 114 turkey vultures (I did not start counting right away until I realized what was going on) in an approx. 10 minute span flying toward the North-Northwest at 7:16 to appoximately 7:26 pm today. They were low, alternately sailing with some flapping flying over Highland Road and Lake St. Ext, in Minnetonka. This area is near Williston Road and Hiway 7. It is approximately 2 1/2 miles southeast of Gray's Bay on Lake Minnetonka. The birds were low. Looking through the trees to the East I could see others which I did not count.
We have never seen anything quite like it except for a kettle of Broad--wing hawks over the same ridge but much higher about 20 years ago.
Maybe we should change the name from Highland to Turkey Vulture Ridge,
Don Grussing
