At 8:30 this morning, two Chimney Swifts were flying low over Hamline
Avenue, just south of the intersection with Randolph Avenue. I was heading
south as they were heading north, directly overhead. There was no mistaking
that distinctive silhouette, nor the flight details. Swifts usually nest in
the chimney of the school kitty-corner from our house, and often hunt above
our backyard, but this is the earliest I recall seeing them in the
neighborhood.
