[Mnbird] Sticky binoculars

Thank you for your help on ways to eliminate the stickiness on binoculars that I suspect had been hit by insect spray while being used by youngsters. 
  I’d tried all the normal things--ignoring them, pretending they didn’t exist and washing them. Talcum powder made for lovely white binoculars, a rather cool look. 
  I didn't try every suggestion. The reason I didn’t test every recommendation was that I found something early on in the process that worked. Lemon essential oil did the trick and the binoculars smell terrific.
