I work at Beaver Creek Valley State Park in Houston county far se corner of
the state, and live just over the border in Iowa. I feed birds at both
locations and have very strong numbers of goldfinch ands purple finches,
constantly replenishing the niger feeders. The suet is going like
hotcakes, lots of downy, hairy, and Red-bellied woodpeckers. Of course
plenty of all the usuals, cardinals, blue jays, titmice, white breasted
nuthatches Only one brown creeper this winter (at the suet) and no
red-breasted nuthatches yet. A month ago saw a snowy owl at the Caledonia
airport, and into late fall had an active Osprey at the creek hunting
trout in the Park. Great horned owls have been vocal and active at the
park last few weeks.
