Crows are smart. There is a record of one in California that would drop nuts in a traffic lane and then fly down to the ground and wait for the walk light to come on and go out and eat the nuts.

Spotted a pair of wood ducks in our pond this morning. FOY sighting, anyway.
Also heard rwbb males last night (my husband claims he may have heard them
as earlier as two weekends ago, when I was out of town.)

Never give up on a dream just because of the length of time it will take to
accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.

Heard the first bluebirds of the spring this AM. Yesterday in the big wind, heard a lonely song sparrow singing.

This morning at 7:45am, observed two crows in pursuit of a squirrel, one on each flank to control direction, into fast, heavy traffic on the Lyndale spur that leads to Hwy 62 and I 35. I would be interested in a professional's opinion as to whether the crows may have been trying to turn it into roadkill. The squirrel made it safely across.

Also, in addition to the LLB(ats) noted in another post, a much larger bat (flying near little browns, for clear comparison) was observed at the South end of Lake Harriet last night ahead of the storm. First I've seen in 25+ years of bat-observation near the lakes. Uncommon?
